MeldaProduction’s latest plug-in pairs simple Mid-Side balance control with spectral processing, and can be used creatively at the production stage or to add the finishing touches to a final mix. Best of all, MCenter is being offered for free for a limited time.
A Centre/Sides at the top of the GUI serves as a balance control between the Mid and Sides elements of the input signal, offering control over its perceived stereo width. MeldaProduction say that those who don’t wish to go into much detail can use this parameter alone, treating the plug-in as a simple ‘single-knob’ processor. However, those who’d like to dig a bit deeper need look no further than the Advanced section directly below. In addition to traditional Mid-Side decoding, MCentre also employs a spectral processing algorithm to separate central and panned elements, something which MeldaProduction offers different results.
The controls within the Advanced panel serve to influence this processing, and it is possible to blend seamlessly between the two approaches thanks to a Midside/Spectral balance control at the top of the plug-in. There’s also an Analyzer view that provides a frequency plot of the signal’s Mid and Sides elements, and allows users to draw in their own custom curves that focus the spectral processing on specific regions of their material.
Compatibility
MCenter is supported on PCs running Windows 8 and above, and Macs running macOS 10.14 and higher. VST, VST3, AU and AAX plug-in versions are available.

MCenter is available now, and will be free to download until 18 February 2024. It will then be subject to an introductory pricing offer until 10 March 2024, costing £42 including VAT thereafter.
