Some Drums from Song Athletics

New company announce debut release

Song Athletics Some Drums acoustic kit samples loops stems multitracks

Song Athletics are a new music technology company founded by former Spitfire Audio CEO Will Evans. They will specialise in developing samples and creator tools, which will all be produced both independently or in collaboration with other artists and companies. Their first release, Some Drums, is now available, and is being offered for free to the first 500 people to place an order.

Some Drums captures drummer Marc Pell (Good Sad Happy Bad, Mount Kimbie, Suitman Jungle) performing at Empire Sound on the Isle of Wight, and offers a range of loops and single hits that promise to add a sense of depth and space to the user’s music. The company say that they have taken full advantage of the studio’s spacious live room, and have recorded Marc performing a variety of styles in order to offer a versatile set of samples that will suit a wide range of material. There are over 40 loops included (with multitracks provided for flexible mixing options) and over 80 single hits.

The kit used in the session was a 1960s Ludwig 20 - 12 - 16, and an array of high-end mics and preamps from the likes of Chandler, Neve, AKG, Beyerdynamic, Sennheiser, Earthworks, Telefunken and more were employed during the recording.

Compatibility

The contents of Some Drums is provided as 24-bit/48kHz WAV files.
