Version 3.2 adds native Apple Silicon support

Tone2 Audiosoftware have released version 3.2 of their Saurus software synthesizer. This latest version brings with it native Apple Silicon support, with the AudioUnit version of the plug-in now benefitting from faster loading times on machines powered by Apples M1 series processors, as well as CPU usage being reduced by 20% when compared to running via Rosetta2. Tone2 say that other enhancements have been made alongside this support, such as improved GUI responsiveness and automatic detection of the ideal GUI size.

Several other fixes have been implemented in the update, including a workaround for Apple’s AudioUnit validation process meaning a system restart is no longer required after installation. Additionally, another known problem tackled by the update means that users of FL Studio will no longer have to enable the ‘Use fixed sized buffers’ option in their DAW to prevent crackles when playing the instrument.

The implementation of M1 support does mean that the plug-in now requires a macOS version of 10.11 or higher, with users of earlier operating systems being advised to remain using Saurus 3.0.

Saurus 3.2 is available now as a free update to all current Saurus owners.
